Audio to Text

or drop an audio or video file here Files stay on your device

Choosing the language yourself is faster and more reliable than detecting it, especially for short recordings.

Runs on your device with an open-source AI model (40–240 MB, depending on accuracy, downloaded from this site the first time). Your files are never uploaded.

How to use the audio to text

  1. Choose an audio or video file.
  2. Pick the language (or let it detect), and whether you want timestamps.
  3. Wait for the transcript, then copy or download it.

How long does it take?

On a typical laptop, transcription takes roughly an eighth of the recording’s length: about 8 minutes for an hour of audio. Phones are slower. The first run also downloads the model (about 40 MB) from this site; later runs start straight away.

Questions

How accurate is it?

It uses Whisper, an open-source speech model, in its small “tiny” size so it can run in a browser. Clear speech in common languages works well; strong accents, noise, music and overlapping speakers cause mistakes, so check the result before using it.

Is my audio sent to an AI service?

No. The AI model is downloaded from this site once and runs on your device. The audio is never uploaded.
