The Word file contains the PDF’s text, one paragraph at a time, with a page break between pages. Layout, images and tables aren’t copied.

How to use the pdf to word converter

1. Choose or drop a PDF.
2. Keep “Join lines” on for normal documents.
3. Select Convert to Word and open the .docx in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.

What gets converted

This converter focuses on the text: it is read from the PDF, rejoined into paragraphs and saved with a page break between pages. Fonts, columns, images and tables aren’t recreated, so complex layouts need tidying afterwards.

Scanned PDFs are pictures of text with no text layer, so there’s nothing to extract without OCR (text recognition).

Questions

Why are some words joined or split oddly?

PDFs store text as positioned pieces, not paragraphs. The tool rebuilds paragraphs from their positions, which works well for normal documents but can stumble on multi-column layouts. Try turning “Join lines” off.

What if my PDF has a password?

Open it with the PDF Unlocker first (you’ll need the password), then use the unlocked copy here.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The PDF is processed by your browser on your own device and is never sent to a server, so it’s safe to use with private documents.
