Quality affects JPG and WebP. PNG stays lossless, so to make a PNG much smaller save it as WebP or JPG, or reduce its size.

How to use the image compressor

    1. Choose or drop one or more images.
    2. Adjust the quality and, if you like, a maximum size.
    3. Download each file, or all of them as a ZIP.

    Which settings to use

For photos, a quality of 70–80% is usually impossible to tell apart from the original and often 60–90% smaller. Screenshots and graphics with flat colours compress best as PNG or WebP. Making a 4000-pixel photo 1920 pixels wide shrinks it more than any quality setting.

Why a file sometimes doesn’t shrink

If an image is already well compressed, saving it again can make it bigger. In that case the tool keeps your original file and tells you.

    Examples

4.2 MB phone photo, quality 75%, 1920 px

    Questions

Does compressing remove the photo’s location data?

Yes. The image is re-drawn from its pixels, so EXIF details such as GPS location and camera model are not kept.

Can I convert several files at once?

Yes. Choose or drop as many as you like. Each one gets its own download button, and “Download all as ZIP” saves them together.

    Are my files uploaded?

No. The files are processed by your browser on your own device and are never sent to a server.
