Privacy check

Phones often store the recording location and device model inside videos. If this tool shows a location, anyone you send the original file to can see it too. Re-exporting with the Video Compressor leaves those tags behind.

Examples

iPhone video

HEVC 3840 × 2160, 30 fps, AAC stereo, location tag

Screen recording

H.264, variable frame rate

Questions

Why does the first conversion take longer?

The first time, your browser downloads the video engine (FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, about 31 MB) from this site. After that it’s cached, and the work itself runs on your device.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device, so your files are never sent to a server.
